| 13:00 | Innovative Solutions in the CAD CAM process chain Matthias Schöwe & Mario Rogge, SPI GmbH
SPI SheetMetal Solutions provide a variety of efficient design tools for sheet metal design. Especially the design and unfolding of sharp cornered models - without the need to apply reliefs - is available. It is possible to unfold sharp cornered sheet metal parts or even inaccurate imported models. SPI's sheet metal design software allows direct exporting of the unfolding geometry into the TruTops GEO and WICAM XML file formats. The new SPI TruTops Interface allows to use the bending process information from TruTops Bend. Designers can read it into the SPI material management database directly and use it during the design process with the SPI SheetMetal Solutions. The tool‘s data of several punch and forming tools from TruTops Punch can be used in the same way. The generated unfolding is fully compatible with the calculation methods of the NC program TruTops Bend and delivers all necessary process data. The user can directly transfer the unfolding from SPI to TruTops programs (Punch, Laser, Bend) without the need for revision. SPI applications are certified and fully integrated with latest releases of the basic CAD System. SPI SheetMetal Solutions are available in several languages and are sold through a network of authorized SPI-partners in more than 35 countries in Europe, America and Asia/Pacific. Dipl. Inf. Mario Rogge, 42, studied informatics and works for SPI since 11 years. Mechanical engineer Mathias Schöwe, 41, brings along 15 years of experience in the field of CAD /CAM for sheet metal. |

A big challenge for a “mature” laser application in the new decade – to be accomplished only by fast and intelligent simulation algorithms. Dirk Petring is with Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT in Aachen, Germany, where he became head of the Dept. Cutting in 1989. He received his PhD at the Technical University RWTH Aachen in 1994. In 1998 Dr. Petring also took over responsibility for the welding activities at Fraunhofer ILT as head of the Cutting & Joining department. Dr. Petring co-founded the Laserfact GmbH in 2006 and is currently co-owner of Laserfact and Group Manager for Macro Joining and Cutting at Fraunhofer ILT. |

Instead of using press hardening to produce automotive components of high strength steel, the alternative of using 3D rollforming directly of martensitic high strength material will be presented. The latest result for the third generation of the technology will also be presented.
The talk will give an outline of possibilities resulting from the combination of advanced materials with well suited forming methods.
In 1977 Salvagnini invented a new technology for bending sheet metal component the P4, aka the Panel Bender. Main P4 functional features. The technological evolution : productivity -> automation -> flexibility -> applications -> energy saving. Examples of applications (including the ones made real time in our stand). Bench mark with traditional technology
Energy beside water and other resources will affect in future the life of mankind dramatically. Not only the increasing costs but the availability will be the main issue. Voith Turbo H + L Hydraulic developed a servo pump drive system for hydraulic presses with the main goal to increase the efficiency of the hydraulic presses drastically. Beside this benefit the noise, flexibility and most of the other machine parameters can be improved significantly.
An overview of TR Fastenings and the core product range.
Radan is a fully integrated CAD / CAM system for sheet metal working with features such as 2D/3D construction, distribution, punching, laser and press brake programming. Radan is the optimal processing program and can quickly be adapted for most punch, laser and combination machines on the market.
To realize lighter and safer designs more and more state-of-the-art materials, such as ultrahigh strength steels and aluminum, are used throughout the sheet metal forming industry. Parts stamped from these materials are often more sensitive to springback than those made from conventional steels. Springback modifies the final shape of the part and the correction of springback increases manufacturing costs. A large amount of springback after forming often leads to time and cost-intensive correction loops during tool tryout. Predicting the final geometry of a part after springback and designing appropriate tooling to compensate for springback, continues to pose practical problems in the manufacturing industry. During the BLECH Nordic seminars, Dave Ling from AutoForm Engineering BV will go into AutoForm solutions to come to an efficient and effective way of springback compensation.
The sheet metal process chain is accompanied by the central question: How are high-quality work pieces produced fast and economically? The answer on that is the sheet metal software developed by SPI GmbH (Hamburg, Northern Germany), which is available for the CAD systems Autodesk and SolidWorks.
Servo driven press technology entered the modern press shop within a very short time. More than 140 machines on order or already delivered give proof for this statement. The advantages are manifold. Not only is the increase of the output rate of this type of press attractive, it also is the ease of use and the possibility to fine tune the production cycle for the material and the existing tooling accordingly. The professional stamper will get a new possibility on hand to develop press tooling which even allows for secondary operations inside of the press while the slide has stopped, thus eliminating complex and time consuming handling operations.
WiCAM is the leading provider in the technology of CAD / CAM software for the sheet metal industry. Since its foundation in 1986, WICAM had the vision to drive new technologies and implementing them with new ideas and concepts with industrial innovation.
Improvements in computer hardware and numerical methods offer tremendous progress in calculating laser-gas-material interactions and predicting process results. Fraunhofer ILT used the simulation software CALCut to explain the essential positive and negative impacts of multiple reflections in cutting with 1 micron wavelength lasers.
Franco Cozzani will be talking about the history of the RFCS programme, as an innovative model for research funding; its status and the recent programme developments, in particular for European Steel research activities, as well as the main future developments.
